When Mike S. was enrolled in a DVR program, he was also in the process of trying to go back to school. In enrolling into school, he encountered his first barrier - he needed a laptop to communicate with his advisor. Mike had no laptop. He was resigned to the fact that he wouldn’t be able to pursue his degree, until, his advisor directed him towards the CLICK program and Digital Navigator, Eric Faber.
With renewed motivation, Mike was able to get connected with the information he needed and enrolled in the CLICK free laptop program.
Having access to the digital device helped Mike do much more than complete the requirements for his degree. It gave him the ability to research information, ask questions, and find resources that he otherwise wouldn't have had access to. Whether it was looking things up for school or navigating other aspects of daily life, the laptop became an important tool that helped Mike move forward.
This is what Mike had to say about the CLICK program, “I am incredibly appreciative of the support I received through the CLICK program. It not only helped me continue my education, but it also showed me the value of having reliable access to technology. Returning the laptop was bittersweet, but it also became a commitment to myself: investing in my own device so I can continue building on the progress I've made.”
Mike has since completed his schooling and recieved his degree as a Communications Resource Specialist. Great job, Mike!
