Texting Permissions

Background

Text messaging is an additional method of communication the Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board (NWWIB) may utilize to reach out to job seekers, participants, employers, and the public. For the purposes of this document, mass text messages are defined as texts sent to a predetermined group of persons with whom the sender is not in direct, personal contact on a regular basis. Text messaging may also be utilized for a targeted message to an individual participant. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/ affiliates for marketing/ promotion purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Guiding Principles

Preserving texting as an additional channel for important participant communications is important to the NWWIB. NWWIB will keep texts to a minimum to ensure that individuals remain in the texting program and do not opt-out because of overuse.

All mobile information the subscriber shares will remain confidential and will only be used by NWWIB representatives to assist the subscriber. NWWIB does not share phone numbers with external sources. Other offices, departments or organizations at NWWIB may collect and use information in forms different than described herein, and as such, the subscriber should review the NWWIB’s Privacy Policy and the policies of any other electronic services or website of NWWIB that they may use.

Scope

All mass text messages originating from any NWWIB, or from any authorized NWWIB employee acting in his/her professional capacity, are included in this procedure. Message frequency may vary.

Categories of Messages

NWWIB uses text messaging as a means of communication to provide services and communicate information to a broad audience. The following are the categories of mass text messages permitted under this policy:

  • Text messaging is used to provide information on upcoming events and announcements, notifying individuals of important dates and relevant events.

Text messages will not be used for:

  • Repeat reminders of text messages already circulated
  • Personal matters (e.g. items for sale)
  • Solicitation
  • The sole means of communicating an essential message or announcement. The text message will be supplemented by some other means of communication (e.g. electronic, paper notice) to ensure all individuals receive the information.

Opt-In/Opt-Out Feature

You may opt-in or opt-out of receiving texts at any time.

Subscribing to this service is not required and is used only for matters that NWWIB deems helpful and pertinent to participant success.

All users may opt out or unsubscribe from receiving text messages from NWWIB at any time by texting “STOP” or “STOP ALL”.  Additionally, if you can elect to opt-out of your textword group by texting “STOP” and the name of your textword group (ex: text “STOP join” to opt-out). If you elect to opt out, you will no longer receive text messages from NWWIB unless you re-subscribe to such services.

Costs

All costs associated with receiving a text message are the responsibility of the individual receiving the message. Receiving mobile text messages from NWWIB completely free of charge. However, message and data rates may apply from the wireless carrier. Currently, the NWWIB supports coverage in the United States and Canada for SMS text messaging. Supported American carriers include:  AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltel, Boost Mobile, and Virgin Mobile.
