Group Childcare Essentials Training is being offered March 11 through July 10 open to those interested in becoming a
trained childcare worker.

The Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board, in partnership with Northwood Technical College and Northwest
Connection Family Resources through the Worker Advancement Initiative, is hosting the training free of charge. It is an
online training with four in-person days at Hayward.

The in-person schedule is as follows: Saturday, March 11, 8 a.m. to noon (includes technology orientation); Saturday, April
15, 8 a.m. to noon; Saturday, May 13, 9 a.m. to noon; and Saturday, June 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Instruction will be done by Northwood Tech faculty with a special workshop being instructed by Northwest Connections
Family Resources staff. Completers of this certificate will meet the Wisconsin DCF's licensing guidelines for teachers in
group child care centers and will be recognized as a Wisconsin Registry Career Level 7.

In order to set up individuals for successful employment after training, any who have a record should refer to the
Wisconsin Department of Children and Families Barred Offenses List and call prior to enrollment to ensure eligibility to
work in the industry after completing the training.

This training is being funded under the Worker Advancement Initiative grant. Participants need to be enrolled in order to
access the training for free. This WAI program has a lot of flexibility.

Interested individuals should contact Amanda Soltau, Training Navigator Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment
Board, at asoltau@nwwib.com or call 715-204-9455.
